About
Hi, I’m Michele Dortch, a former corporate cog with more than 12 years of experience in Human Resources and Organizational Development (HR/OD), working primarily in the tech industry. Today, I’m full-time freelance writer and adjunct professor raising three kids, a husband and a dog in a cookie-cutter neighborhood near Phoenix, AZ.
In between corporate cog and freelance writer, I ran a boutique HR/management consulting practice. To attract new clients I used a three-prong marketing approach that included active, passive and keep-in-touch activities. I quickly discovered that repeat and referral clients were my best sources of new revenue, which meant I needed to good way to keep in touch with them.
That’s when I discovered the power of email newsletters.
Leveraging what I know and do best, I combined my BA in English and my MA in Organization Development to develop inviting and interesting newsletters that showcased my expertise and provided readers with value. Before long, I had established myself as an expert and built a substantial newsletter following, which resulted in client relationships with companies like Yahoo!, Boeing and Toyota Motor Sales.
A newsletter is a powerful, cost-effective marketing tool anyone can use to reach key audiences like prospects, customers and employees. There are three main reasons you should have a newsletter as part of your marketing mix:
- To share knowledge and showcase your expertise;
- To develop an on-going relationship with readers; and
- To cultivate an interest in your products or services.
At the end of the day, a strong newsletter campaign translates into higher loyalty to your brand and increased revenue for your business. Now, that’s a marketing strategy worth investing in!
To reach that level of success, your newsletter campaign must have three qualities:
- It must be consistent;
- It must be relevant; and
- It must offer value.
But as a busy business owner or non-profit leader, it’s hard to find the time to develop and maintain a successful newsletter campaign. And that’s why I created the Newsletter Diva – to provide vital support you need to reach your marketing goals.
If you haven’t already, read more about the clients I work with, and then learn more about how I serve you. When you’re ready to get started just contact me and we’ll take the next step.
